A shocking discovery was made when Kevin Ewing, a Tacoma resident, found a decomposing human toe inside a gift-wrapped box on Dash Point Beach in Washington. Ewing, who was walking along the beach with his family, initially thought the box was a prayer box or a message in a bottle. However, upon opening it, he was stunned to find a severed human toe wrapped in white cloth, alongside a feather, grass, sage, and tobacco.
Ewing described the experience as something out of a horror movie. "A lot of things are going through my head like, 'Where is the rest of the body? Did this wash in from the tide, or did somebody leave this here intentionally to be found?'" he said, according to KIRO.
After documenting the find with photos, Ewing immediately reported it to a park ranger. The Washington State Patrol has since taken over the investigation, confirming that the toe appears to belong to an adult male. They are currently working with local law enforcement to determine if the toe matches any missing persons records.
Adding to the mystery, Ewing also discovered a dead, mutilated seagull near the box. It remains unclear if the two findings are connected. As the investigation continues, authorities are seeking to identify the individual to whom the toe belongs and how long it has been decomposing.
